1.summary
In today's class, we looked at the points of 'how much democracy can be achieved' in countries around the world and discussed them with group members. I looked at Korea's score first, and it was almost perfect for Korea. Not surprisingly, Korea is a representative country of the democratic system, where the people can freely do whatever they want without breaking the law. Then I looked at North Korea's score, and North Korea scored three. I thought, 'What's that score? Did the producer of the website even get threatened by Kim Jong-un?' Because North Korea is a country where people's freedom is not guaranteed due to the dictatorship. When the professor said in class, it was impressive to say that the power of a dictator in autocracy is not limited. In autocracy, dictators decide everything. Then he kept talking about democracy to the professor. The question he asked was, 'Should all countries follow a democratic system?' I think it was 'yes'. A democratic system is not perfect (see blog on April 22nd), but isn't democracy at least a system that guarantees the freedom of the people?
2.interesting
The most interesting thing in class was the organized government's world trend that the professor showed on the screen during class. The contents are as follows. First, the scale of the government is getting bigger. I thought this word 'scale' had both the meaning of more departments and more personnel within the government and the power and power that the government could exercise. Second, the increasing hierarchical order of society (bureaucracy) increases. An organization forms an organization, and that organization also forms a sub-organization. The bureaucracy is that under the premise that the management positions are rational and performance-oriented, all authority and responsibilities within the organization are hierarchically returned, so a large amount of work can be handled quickly. The third is the centralization of power in the state. It is not easy to make decisions according to the interests of the princes, but if power is concentrated in the center, the king should combine opinions and nail a conclusion even if a dispute arises between the servants. When implemented, if the central government is told to do it, local officials must follow it. Like the feudal princes, it cannot be done by saying, "I don't want to do this" or "We'll take care of our estate."
3.discussion
If you had taken the professor's class, we would now be people with our own knowledge of democracy. Then, I would like to discuss it with my classmates. Should all countries change to a democratic system? Personally, there are conflicting opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of democracy, socialism and communism, and ideological contradictions cannot be concluded that the ideology of a country's existence is correct or wrong. To analyze and discuss only theoretically, there are advantages and disadvantages of democracy and advantages and disadvantages of socialism, and economic theories have different views. However, it has been revealed that tyranny, dictatorship, and communism should be avoided through a number of substantially proven cases—such as the former Soviet Union and North Korea—beyond ideological theory. Socialist countries, such as China, are also operating national policies according to their circumstances while partially introducing free economy and democratic policies and ideologies. Based solely on ideological theory, democracy should in general be oriented, and ideological theory and policy implementation for the people, by the people, and for the people are ultimately desirable.
